Making Dental Care Fun for Kids of All Ages

YOUR CHILDREN’S TRUSTED DENTAL HOME IN NORTH PLATTE

At Pediatric Dental Specialists–North Platte, we offer a friendly, child-focused environment so your kids will feel at ease as soon as they walk in the door. Our team spends as much time as necessary to make sure your kiddos have positive dental experiences. We treat every child like the individual they are, fully customizing their treatment plan to suit their unique needs. Parents appreciate that we use digital X-rays. Digital X-rays create high-resolution images and provide a safe, comfortable imaging experience.

Protecting Your Child's Health

PROACTIVE CARE WITH YOUR DENTAL TEAM

Our approach at Pediatric Dental Specialists–North Platte is completely centered around what is best for the health of your child. Preventive care is vital to maintaining a healthy smile. Bringing your children in for dental evaluations and professional dental cleanings (or toothbrush prophylaxes for babies and toddlers) every six months helps us ensure early detection of any issues. But it’s not just the permanent teeth that are important: Baby teeth play a crucial role in your child’s dental development. Early diagnosis and treatment is the key to maintaining positive oral health. Our expert team uses proven preventive treatments such as dental sealants and fluoride varnish to help protect your child’s teeth from decay. We also provide practical advice and tips on how to help establish positive at-home oral hygiene routines. The ultimate goal is for your child to embrace healthy dental habits in childhood so they can maintain optimal oral health and avoid the need for restorative work later in life.

Dr. Simpson and his staff are friendly and kind. Dr. Simpson took time on even an obviously busy day to introduce himself and answer questions. His front office staff were kind, knowledgeable, and professional. Thank you!

Sedation Dentistry

FOR AN ANXIETY-FREE EXPERIENCE

Both in-office and hospital sedation options are available for kids who struggle to complete their treatment in a regular dental setting. At our office, Pediatric Dental Specialists–North Platte offers nitrous oxide, which is a gentle form of sedation that your child inhales through a special mask so they can relax during their treatment. We also offer in-office intravenous (IV) sedation through Nebraska Dental Anesthesia. If hospital sedation is required, Pediatric Dental Specialists–North Platte can arrange for intravenous (IV) sedation at Great Plains Health. All IV sedation whether in office or at the hospital is administered by an anesthesiologist.

Frenectomies, Gum Revision, Decay Removal

A GENTLE APPROACH WITH LASER DENTISTRY.

The cutting-edge of dental technology, laser dentistry is revolutionizing the way we care for your child’s oral health. Laser dentistry allows for a gentle, minimally invasive approach that makes procedures a breeze for kids. Using advanced laser technology, we can release your child’s tongue tie, lip tie, or treat a cavity. And do so with less inflammation and a faster healing time for your child. With a lip or tongue tie release (a frenectomy), laser dentistry is especially perfect because these are often our youngest patients undergoing this procedure. A quicker treatment time with less pain during and after the procedure is absolutely worth choosing a dentist and office with this advanced technology.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

FIX SMALL CAVITIES IN A FLASH.

Tooth-colored fillings are a fantastic option for fixing small cavities. Their main benefit is that they blend in seamlessly with your child’s smile for a natural look. Your child can confidently show their beautiful smile without any noticeable changes. Tooth-colored fillings are made of composite resin, which is a safe and durable material for use in children’s dentistry. The process of repairing a tooth with a filling is incredibly quick and easy, and your child will remain comfortable throughout their treatment. Dr. Simpson also uses a Waterlase dental laser to make the whole experience even more comfortable for your child. With the laser, removing decay from your kiddo’s tooth is quick and comfortable, often eliminating the need for anesthesia.

Pulp Therapy

RESCUING A DAMAGED TOOTH

Pulp therapy removes infected pulp (nerves and other inner tissues) and then clean and seal the area in order to save a damaged baby tooth. Often patients and parents don’t realize just how important the inner part of the tooth really is. When the pulp becomes infected or inflamed, your child can experience severe discomfort. Dr. Simpson is adept at providing pulp therapy with both precision and care to children of all ages. Our entire team at Pediatric Dental Specialists–North Platte will make your child’s experience as smooth and comfortable as possible.

Dr. Simpson is absolutely amazing with all my kiddos especially my daughter who is extremely anxious when it comes to dental appointments. He is so patient with her and works very well to calm her anxiety, after one visit with him her anxiety had significantly improved at the second visit! I would highly recommend and do regularly to everyone!!!

Dental Bonding

IMPROVING IMPERFECTIONS IS EASY.

Dental bonding is a simple yet effective way to address dental mishaps that can happen in childhood, such as cracks, chips, and discolorations. It can also help to close small gaps for a flawless smile. Your child’s pediatric dentist will artfully apply and shape color-matched composite resin material to quickly and painlessly restore the teeth. Bringing your child’s smile back to life not only has benefits for their dental health. It can boost their confidence and reduce self-consciousness and hesitancy to smile.

Dental Crowns

RESTORE AND PROTECT LITTLE SMILES.

Dental crowns work to support and stabilize damaged teeth, providing necessary protection against future damage and decay. At Pediatric Dental Specialists–North Platte, we use stainless steel dental crowns to restore baby teeth. These are exceptionally strong and do a great job of safeguarding the molars in particular. When the baby teeth fall out naturally, the stainless steel dental crowns fall out with them. Tooth-colored crowns are available for cases involving front teeth, as well as for older kids who are more concerned about the look of their smile.

Tooth Extractions

SAVING A TOOTH ISN’T ALWAYS POSSIBLE.

At Pediatric Dental Specialists–North Platte, we prioritize the preservation of your child’s teeth. However, overcrowding or extensive decay may warrant an extraction to protect the remaining teeth. If left untreated, a severely damaged tooth can become a breeding ground for infection or cause decay to spread to neighboring teeth, leading to unnecessary pain for your child.

We carry out tooth extractions gently and meticulously at our dental office. Our compassionate approach minimizes discomfort and anxiety to calm your little one’s nerves and ensure successful treatment.

Mouth Guards

KEEP YOUR CHILD’S SMILE SAFE.

Does your child love playing sports like hockey and football? To protect their smile, a mouth guard is a must-have. Mouth guards defend against potential injuries so your child can enjoy physical activity with minimal risk of dental trauma. Getting a custom-made mouth guard at Pediatric Dental Specialists–North Platte is quick and easy. After taking impressions of your child’s mouth, we will custom-make the mouth guard for a snug but comfortable fit.

Our regular dentist office suggested Pediatric Dentistry for our son, and THIS place has all the right stuff for achieving a great patient connection and getting compliance from a naturally apprehensive (frankly anti-dentistry) kid. I am so grateful to have found Pediatric Dental Specialists! ...A-mazing!
